The School of Theatre has extensive facilities for teaching and learning, production and performance, including:

  • The 1000-seat W.M. Turner Auditorium (in cooperation with other programs of the College of Fine Arts) with extensive support facilities and up-to-date equipment
  • The 80-seat Downstage Theatre, a flexible “black box” space with newly renovated lighting infrastructure
  • The 49-seat Upstage Theatre, a studio-scale proscenium theatre with lighting/sound control booth and backstage space
  • A huge, recently renovated 5,000-square-foot scenic and props complex comprising five construction, crafts and paint shops
  • Extensive costume facilities including a full-sized, well-equipped shop, fitting room, newly renovated dye room with state-of-the-art equipment, wig and hat room, laundry room, fabric storage room, and an extensive collection of period and modern costumes
  • A technologically equipped lecture hall, a studio/seminar room, and large rehearsal and movement studio
  • A design studio including computer- and hand-drafting equipment and a lighting laboratory with up-to-date equipment
  • A newly renovated sound laboratory with up-to-date equipment
